Rib-Eye steak last night: sear, two minutes per side, remove from heat, put steak on plate, let pan cool a little. Add 1 Tbsp butter, a shallot, a clove of pressed garlic to pan, swirl around, add 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp orange juice, throw meat and pan juices back in, cook til meat's done, flipping occasionally. (I love my meat thermometer - much better than guessing at doneness).

Today for lunch: nutella, marmalade and peanut butter sandwich and an apple. Also satisfying.

Things I love right now: Macbook Air, Hanes Boy Briefs underwear, the book Love is a Mix Tape, the new Mark Bittman vegetarian cookbook.

i love macbook air too, but [livejournal.com profile] olaugh derided it, saying it would be our fourth fastest computer.

my steaks don't tend to turn out well, but i'll try your recipe. i guess i'll have lots of opportunities to practice soon.

steaks go over best for me with the aid of the thermometer, and being patient enough to let them rest for 6ish minutes. without that, i'm pretty bad at making them, too.

But the fastest per inch of thickness, dammit.
