So after that movie meme, I decided to try to come up with the top 100 favorite movies. I've dnoe this before. I never get to 100. So, for now, here are 60 that are favorites in the context of when I watched them. I might not like them as much if I watched them today, but at the time, they were just what I wanted them to be: Read more... )
..., but since there are now so many, that doesn't seem like that many. Also, I almost alphabetized them, but I really am trying to do work today.

1. Take this list and post it into your own LJ, and mark the movies you've seen (in bold).
2. Add five more movies to the end of the list.
3. Count how many you have seen. If you've seen more than 70 movies, you are a Movie Whore. Post the score of how many movies you've seen in the subject line.
4. Use a LJ-cut since you've got at least one LJ-friend who doesn't really want to see an ungodly number of movies snaking its way down the computer monitor (now at 321).
5. (optional) Question your friend's taste in movies (cuz you can).

It’s rather painful to be back at work today. My body had just gotten used to not doing anything, which means I’ve been going to sleep at 12 and 1, and getting up at 8:30 or 9. Got up for work at 7:15 with the alarm today and thought I was going to die. Ironically, the traffic was so bad that my carpool didn’t arrive until 9:15, so I could’ve easily slept until 8:30 or so. Of course, if I had, she would’ve been right on time. The upside is that it’s already Thursday, which means only one day until the weekend.

We had a wonderfully successful dinner party last night with Tim’s running partners and their respective partners. I think everyone had been so stir crazy, having not nearly as much human interaction as we’re used to, and so conversation flowed really easily despite the fact that we’d never all really hung out together before, and two of the people were totally new to the group. It also probably doesn’t hurt that we made it through four bottles of wine between the six of us. I’m working on the hydration this morning. Good thing we had pasta and lots of bread with a fondue appetizer, or I probably would’ve had a much longer, more painful night. We cooked, ate, and then played games – Battle of the Sexes and Cranium.

I don’t like “Battle of the Sexes.” The premise is that the boys have to answer questions about ‘girl stuff’ and vice versa. Without even getting into the implications of gender identity, the questions were just ridiculous. Most of the boy ones were about obscure fishing, sports and automobile factoids (e.g. ‘What is a small, curved, metallic fishing lure called?” and “What vehicular necessities are sold under the brands Mercury, Evinrude and Johnson?” – I mean really, who knows that spoons are a kind of fishing lure, or that boat motors even have brand names). Most of the girl ones were about homemaking and cooking type stuff that really, anyone should know (e.g., ‘What do you call the small, toasted pieces of bread served on soups or salads?” and “On what household object would you find hospital corners?”). Does anyone want to help me re-write the “girl” questions? I’ve already started writing some in my head, mainly about girly movies and other pop culture references (e.g. "Name four romantic comedies in which Meg Ryan played the female lead?" and "What former children's television star won a Grammy for her album 'Jagged Little Pill'")?

Okay, using correct punctuation above? Totally beyond me at this point. Sad.

The girls won Cranium, so at least we were a little bit vindicated.

New mix CD project: songs that make you think of actual images. List so far: Take the Money and Run (Steve Miller Band); Lightning Crashes (Live); Traveling Soldier (Dixie Chicks); Red Red Wine (Neil Diamond); America (Simon and Garfunkel); Bleecker Street (Jonatha Brooke cover); This Shirt (Mary Chapin Carpenter); The Old Apartment (barenaked ladies); Deep Dish (ani). Songs I would use if I didn't put them on every mix CD I make: Tiny Dancer, Vineyard, Circle Game. If you have any that stick out in your head, let me know.

Over the five-day weekend, I watched the following movies: Spiderman, Matrix, big, Princess Bride, Can't Hardly Wait, Ocean's Eleven, and Daredevil (on the day we finally got so stir crazy that we braved the snow to go to the movie theater); and the following bad TV: Celebrity Mole (last three episodes on Fox Family), Joe Millionaire, The Simpsons 300th episode, Pet Star (on Animal Planet) and lots and lots of Personal TLC.

A student just came by and asked if classes were canceled. He drove all the way from by me to find out that they were, poor thing.
