the birthday hits keep on rollin'

So, Friday was my birthday, and I've had quite a lovely time of celebrating, even if it's in spurts :)
Have gotten wonderful gifties in the mail, cards, and even a well-timed random act of mailing from someone on nervousness. On my birthday, I crashed. It was my last day of riding camp, we spent 1 1/2 hours riding, during which I even managed to canter without stirrups. Ate lunch, went and played with babies at our instructor/camp counselor's farm -- Welsh and Welsh cross ponies, from 5 weeks to 5 years old, until about 3pm (in the rain, but still lots of fun). Driving home took 2 hours when it should've taken 1, thanks to rain and car accidents and my dysfunctional compass. Got home, Tim made dinner, we were chatting in the living room about what to do after dinner, and fell asleep. I slept from 7:15 until 9:30, and then climbed into bed and slept from 10 until 9 the next morning. Whee.
Yesterday, we went to the Bethesda Farmer's Market and to Trader Joe's.
greensock left, and we had the house to ourselves again, for the first time in a month or so. Felt very strange. We went on errands -- looked at laptops at Best Buy, and bought a chest freezer, a tree and a ceiling fan at Lowe's. Tim spent the better part of yesterday installing tree and fan. The tree is a weeping willow, and will take the place of the dead tree in the front yard. The ceiling fan was on clearance, and works on a remote control. I had fun this morning dimming the light and changing the fan speed. Yesterday night we went and played in a euchre mini-tournament with some friends -- everyone puts in $5 and there are prizes for winners, and some money to buying snacks. Tim ended up coming in first and won $15, which was a net gain of $5 for us, plus there were ballons and cake for my birthday, which is always fun :) Tonight we're going to the Melting Pot for my birthday dinner. In November, we're going to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway for my birthday present. It's a good year for birthdays all around :)

Date: 2003-09-14 09:31 am (UTC)i love weeping willow trees...and i was just telling chris the other night that i thought a weeping willow would look good in front of our new house...heh...before that i hadn't heard anyone talk about weeping willows for years. when i read your post, i got that, "well, isn't that odd?" feeling. :)
wonder if tim would like to come and hang our ceiling fan...seems that nobody else wants to...i'd electrocute myself, and chris has let it sit in the box for well over a year.
if we ever become poly, i'm gonna find me a nice, handy friend...cuz we are both hopeless.
happy birthday, once again...it sounds like you are having a great one this year!
