In every space, there is yarn, dog hair, and a CD. I can open a drawer, or a closet, or find my way to the back of a shelf, and every time at least 2 of those 3 things will be lurking.

I accumulate a lot more stuff than Tim. We have always known this. But I'm getting much better!

Reading old journals and looking through my photo boxes of memorabilia from different times in my life are the whole reason I keep those kinds of things. I love revisiting. And every time I do it, I can pare a little bit out of each box, which makes me feel productive.

The number of cassette tapes that I own is still overwhelming. No, I haven't listened to any of them since I moved here, but I can't bring myself to toss them, especially mixes that people have made me, which date back to '93. Also, all of the tapes from my radio show at Grinnell. I got rid of some, keeping the liner notes, but it just isn't the same.

I have a lot of pajama pants. Most of them are too short. Many of them are stained with paint. But I love them all! Pajama/lounge pants are such a guilty pleasure. They're always on sale at places like Target or Old Navy for less than ten bucks, and they're fun and comfy... I convinced myself to toss a few (mostly so I can buy new ones!) but I know I'm still packing too many.

The POD arrives today. I wonder how much fits in a 12' POD.

This is a huge motivating factor for me when I'm trying to weed things! I always say firmly to myself "Eli, you have to make room in your life for all of the fabulous things that have yet to enter it."

I think you and I both need one of those cassette-to-mp3 converters. Then we can digitally save all of the mix-tapes people made us and get rid of the physical copies.

sad thing is, i have the technology to do it. i have a tape deck and a stand-alone cd burner, and i can hook the two together. the main issue is that i have to stop the recordings after every track because my machine isn't smart enough to always auto-detect the breaks. i can do about half an hour and then i get bored and stop.

i should really just purchase all the tape tracks i have from iTunes and recreate things. it'd probably be more time/cost effective.

i had an hour-long show at grinnell college with my friend janelle when i worked there. it was called "Quick, Hide the Cat" (because I was a residence hall director, and cats were not allowed, even though a lot of people had them). i also had a show at umbc, whose name escapes me, with my friend heather. i doubt that they were ever archived, though.

i have some of the playlists from umbc still saved in my livejournal... they were all before lj tags existed, but i've started going into the archives and tagging them (http://kismet09.livejournal.com/tag/playlist). if you really want to hear some of the grinnell shows, i have some of them on tape or Cd. they're pretty random.

Finally! Someone else who loves pajama pants as much as I do! For a while, I just kept buying them, and then I had to stop myself from collecting them. A couple of pairs are wearing out, though, and I am getting the itch to purchase new ones...

It's so hard to even choose a favorite pair!

Those sound fun! I have lovely purple plaid flannel ones, as well as blue Care Bears pants. It's sort of a toss-up between the two.

Yesterday I was in Beans & Bagels and I saw a very slick looking dude in a pinstripe suit and gel in his hair. He had a really nice leather bag and some sort of exotic shoes.

The weird thing was that he had an old-school Walkman tape deck, with those horribly cheap head phones with the foam around the ear pieces.

It was pretty sweet. Maybe you should go that route.
