Spent all day yesterday moving Joey into his new house in Takoma Park. Up at 7:45ish, picked up at 8:30ish, went to Budget Rentals in Laurel and spent an hour waiting for three very slow people to get to us in line, get paperwork done, etc. So, already an hour behind schedule or so by the time we get the truck back to his house. His friend Dan was already there, but had also been up til 3 the night before and thus was just as happy to get extra nap time in his car before we got started.
As usual, the last of the packing was the most time consuming, but it gave me something to do while they loaded furniture that weighed more than ponies into the truck. I also had time to teach Joey's nine year old how to spin, so that was kinda fun. Hopefully her cats won't eat my spindle, but if they do, I'll have an excuse to get another one at MD Sheep and Wool :) I may get another anyway - I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed handspindling since spinning on my wheel. I will have to start my wishlist for the Sheep and Wool goodness soon. We also witnessed a rather scary car accident in front of Arby's where we lunched -- it made my stomach hurt, seeing an accident. Everyone was okay and all, but still -- cars don't belong on the sidewalk.
Packing/loading took until about 4:15. Five hours. Ugh. At least it was nice outside. Drove over to the new place, and, with the help of the new roommate, unloading took considerably less time. Had dinner at Franklin's -- full slab o' ribs for me, of which I have at least half left today. Yay leftovers! Back at the new place, we unpacked for awhile, and back home, I slept very well.
Am on my second huge, Starbucks-mug-ful of coffee this morning. Luckily, most of what I'll be doing today is Visions in Feminism craft fair planning, which involves a lot of sitting, some knitting, and maybe a quick trip to Staples/Ikea/Costco. I think that's about all I can handle. Hot bath tonight, I think.
