Dec. 8th, 2004

This weekend, I read and edited 120 pages of mathematics education doctoral dissertation; specifically, I learned a lot about abstract algebra, group theory, proofs, and mathematical proficiency and student understanding. I miss being a student, but I kinda like being an editor. Maybe I could make a living as a dissertation editor. I could learn all of the style sheets, and charge by the hour, and buy stock in purple uniball pens. I'd be an expert in all varieties of highly specialized knowledge.

And now that it's done, Tim will put up my holiday lights so that my house will look festive and fit in with my neighbors'. I finally remembered to bring candles to the office, so now it feels a little more homey. All parts of my brain are currently fully focused on holiday shopping, and the holidays in general.
