charts and reward systems
Jul. 25th, 2004 01:37 pmI'm mostly finished with the tank sweater -- turns out I have to pick up along the bottom and knit a few rows to make the edge not curl too badly (I gartered four rows already, and it's taking another 3 ridges/6 rows to make it calm down. grr). Paula and I spent a number of hours dyeing yesterday as well, so I have lots of pretty new roving to play with, and some Fisherman's Wool in very bright colors for felted bags and the like.
We made some respectable, vegetarian pad thai from scratch for dinner on Friday. Who needs fish sauce, anyway.
We're dogsitting a giant Boxer for a week. Erg. I think the days of dogsitting are coming to an end.
I biked 5 of the past 6 days, and am back down to an acceptable weight after the week of less-than-healthy Orientation hot lunches. I realize that none of this is real weight loss/gain, since the difference was just a couple of pounds, but even so, it makes me happy that the scale reads what it read a couple of weeks ago again.
Finished the Wash Post Sunday xword today. Took almost an hour. I blame reality television for my inability to finish in the speeds that I once did. Maybe I'll start doing the rest of the week to make me feel better.
One half of a med school letter down, 1 1/2 to go this weekend, to stay on track.
When I was a kid, my parents fashioned me a chart of things to do every day, for which I would get little stick on stars put on the chart when I successfully finished a task. When I got to a certain number, I was rewarded with a trip to the movies (to see Last Unicorn in fact. I guess that made me 6 years old). I am tempted to make myself such a chart again. I have even been creating a list of things for which I'd get stars in my head. Perhaps I will post them some time, but right now, I'm supposed to be working.
