back at work
Sep. 15th, 2003 10:14 amHooray for getting back from a short vacation and only having two phone messages, both from non-students! People are learning that I'm less good at answering the phone than email (I have over 400 emails). I woke up at 7:46 this morning, and was out of the house by 7:57. Mad skills, I tell you. I had to ask Tim what color pants I was wearing as I was picking my shirt, since I pulled them on in the dark without actually checking. The sky is very hazy today - is this what pre-hurricane weather looks like? I've never lived on the east coast, so I have no hurricane experience. I like how the weather reports say that Isabel is likely to hit the east coast somewhere between North Carolina and New Jersey -- why not just say Virginia and Maryland? Is that too obvious?
The last of my weekend-long birthday celebration was enjoyable. We went to the Melting Pot last night with my friend Becca, which gave her a break from being with the baby. We've decided that from now on we're ordering a swiss cheese course, salad course, cheddar cheese course, and dessert course. The meat and veggie fondues just aren't as exciting as the cheeses and dessert fondues. I also had a blue hawaiian martini. Yum. Came home, watched Die Another Day while I finally put some of my mail in envelopes to get it sent out, went to bed, forgot to turn the volume on for the alarm clock (see above).
Now I'm actually excited to get things back to normal - get all the mail sent, the house cleaned, the closet changed to the fall wardrobe (yay fall! it's my favorite). The bathroom is mostly in, so I can start reloading all of the stuff that was in the closet area of the room back in, and out of the basement. It's rare that I actually feel domestic, so I must take advantage of it. Of course, I have Scrabble tonight and choir tomorrow, so the dosmesticity may wear off by Wednesday. It's a nice thought, anyway.
