Jan. 13th, 2003 09:41 amMonday morning mochas are almost better than Wednesday mochas, especially since I spend Wednesday in another office, and therefore feel less like it's the day that drags on forever.
I finally remembered to bring my new Chicago calendar to the office, so I'll have a better idea of what day it is. Ah, the small pleasures of being me.
Started my day by setting up an appointment with a student who hasn't registered for classes yet, and needs to be advised before she can do so. Pulled up her transcript and she has 3 Fs and an Incomplete. Sigh. About 50 of my 250 students had a D or F in a major class, so I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised, but even so. I'll spend much of the next few days emailing faculty about their failing students, and emailing my failing advisees about schedule changes to maximize academic progress this semester. I have at least 10 whose GPAs fall below 1.0, so they will be my special projects. I'm having trouble deciding how to prioritize my time this semester -- what to do with my probation kids, what to do with my new kids, what projects to work on that are only indirectly student-related (e.g., website)... and here I thought I'd have a better grasp on what I was doing once a semester was behind me. Oh well, at least it keeps me guessing and getting to try new things.
And, I'm all booked for ACPA in March! If anyone wants to come hang out in my king sized bed with me, let me know :)
