backdating is cheating, but...
Jan. 4th, 2003 01:47 pmI really meant to write about this weekend, and I like everything to be orderly, so backdating it is.
I had a wonderful weekend. It felt like a four day weekend, really, since I was finishing up my winter break and got back into town on wednesday. We took down the tree, cleaned a bit (though not enough), moved the DVD player upstairs so that I never have to leave my craft room, paid some bills, made two soups (roasted butternut squash and black bean with tofu lime cream garnish), and otherwise were good and domestic.
We also went out - three times! On Friday, went to see Chicago, the fabulously amazing movie musical. I'd been reading lots of news articles on the show, and was getting worried that all of the critics were just wrong and that it would be awful, but it was surprisingly wonderful, the actors did a great job, and I just had a lot of fun watching it. Also watched Shawshank Redemption on television that evening, for a totally different sort of prison movie. Saturday, we ventured into the city to hang out, and went to a fun diner called Ben's Chili Bowl which has been around for 45ish years, and is one of those places that you'd never expect to be as great as it was. Saturday night we checked out a new coffeeshop in Bowie, which had live (not good, but live nonetheless) music and yummy hot chocolate.
Sunday we visited the Farmer's Market, as we always do, and watched it snow and snow -- there's about three inches on the ground at home. The dogs had a great time playing around.
So yup, besides the headaches that have been plaguing me, I had a grand end of break.
