I have survived 2 days and 11 games of the Scrabble tournament. I am 8-3, with a spread of 640ish (meaning that out of all of my games, the total scores have put me in the lead collectively over my opponents by 640). I'm in about 4th place, although I think I'm about the 6th best player in my novice division (which isn't bad, considering many of these people have been playing competitive Scrabble for longer than I have known how to read). I had a couple of lucky games, one lousy one, and two where my strategery (and yes, I know that isn't a word) failed me in the end game.
I realize that I must embrace my inner geek at this point. I am honestly loving the Scrabble tournament. I'm currently printing out the list of 3 --> 4 letter hook words (e.g. MOM can take a letter to form MOME, MOMI and MOMS). I ran out of black ink so I'm printing in blue. I am then going to retreat into the bathtub, read through them, and go to bed so that I can try to win some of the finals tomorrow :)
And that, my friends, along with the knitting, sitting at the computer at all hours, and taping every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is why I am officially a geek.
