Today's random compatibility quiz:
I'm a generally unfuckwitted, liberal, not-too-generous, not-too-selfish, relatively well adjusted human being!
See how compatible you are with me!
Brought to you by Rum and Monkey
I am in my last 30 minutes of being at the beck and call of my advisees. I have seen all but 13 of my students, which isn't bad considering I have about 200. I have talked at least 20 into more useful majors for their interests and GPAs. I have convinced many of them that there are job opportunities besides doctor and professor (not that there's anything wrong with being either of those if it's really what you want to do). I'm starting to wish that I got to keep some of them for all four/five/however many years, but hopefully some of them will come back and see me over the course of their time here.
I have a list of things to do this summer at work:
Med School Timeline Handout (and for my info)
Research programs: Forensics, Genetic Counseling, Pharmacy, Physician's Assistant, other allied health programs
Finish BIOL and Advising Handbook Webpages
Update all forms, including the ones in the handbooks we provide
Put together info sheets with four year plan type stuff
Get copies of all this stuff put in the main office
Check grades for all BIOL courses, get students into the right classes next semester
Research similar majors (PSYC, GEOG, HAPP) and put together info sheets on their programs
Learn Statistics
Talk to CHEM and BIOC about what I should be doing for them
ArtSys updates
Protocol on Course Substitutions
Write my job description
Design Advantage project
Health Professions Committee
Training on the Registrar's weird database system
Design some workshops
Update resume
Student Evaluations of my advising
Transfer student info update
-How to do transferability within the major
-Using ArtSys
Chart detailing differences between BIOL, BIOC and CHEM
Get new advisors to look over web stuff and critique, especially the step-by-step appointment part.
Talk my way into an office with a window
Now I will work on making my list of 47 things to do this summer, as inspired by Esquire magazine. I'm glad that Tim's going to keep Esquire and stop subscribing to GQ. The latter interviewed Keanu Reeves this month, the former, Carrie-Anne Moss. Esquire wins. Plus they have the always amusing 'Things a Man Should Know About Women" piece.
