kismet09We arrived in MA (still can't spell it) on Wednesday, and have been unpacking and wandering about in circles ever since.
We have somewhere to live, and I'm glad that we didn't buy it, because there's a lot of work that it could use, and we don't have the time to pay it that much attention. We will, though, fill it with stuff so that it isn't lonely and empty any more.
I don't know where to start with the updating, so I guess I'll begin with a list of things about the moving process:
1. Budget Rental totally screwed up our truck rental, thus we ended up renting, at the very last minute, from U-Haul. Grrr Budget.
2. It takes about 8 hours and 6 people working in various shifts to get all our stuff into a 24' truck.
3. It takes Tim about 3 changes of clothing to pack a 24' truck, as he must change when his clothes get saturated with sweat and thus overly heavy (not to mention disgusting).
4. If we get much more stuff, we won't fit into a 24' truck.
5. However, we don't plan on this being our problem, as we never, ever want to move without professional movers again.
6. It takes about 6 boxes of last minute random stuff to pack everything up after you think you've already packed everything up.
7. Berwyn Heights law enforcement can't tell one end of a U-Haul from the other, and will ticket you citing that you're parked the wrong direction when you're not.
8. You don't have to care about these things when you don't own the ticketed vehicle (although you probably should).
9. It takes about 12 hours for your father in law to drive a 24' truck from Berwyn Heights to Waltham.
10. Gas doesn't get much cheaper as you travel from Berwyn Heights to Waltham.
11. Don't believe that 'express lanes' will necessarily be faster.
12. If the car is too cold, and you try to sleep in the cold, you may have sore teeth from clenching them together in the cold for too long during your naps.
13. Moving from higher humidity to lower is preferable to the opposite.
14. Unloading the truck feels much faster than loading does.
15. It's nice to arrive to mail.
