acting vs being

There is a big difference between being childish/immature, and just retaining a few of the childish/immature things you did as a younger person. Sometimes, upon going home, I backslide quite a bit into becoming the younger person, and have to make an concerted effort not to. The more I go back to Chicago (and then come back here), the more I can recognize when it's happening, and remember who I am now and where I am and my responsibilities. It isn't always fun, being the responsible one, and it's especially hard when I'm all stressy (like now), but it's this version of me that I really like, and want to be.
