pain in my jaw

Yesterday after my bike ride, my jaw started hurting. Today, it's just constantly in pain, and if I move it wrong, I feel a stabbing shot of pain. Fabulous. So, I'm at home, being irritated because I could just as easily be at work if I could make it there in a car (but I feel every bump, and they hurt). I might've even worked through that pain to get to work, but then I also can't really talk, so I wouldn't be a very effective advisor today anyway. SO ANNOYING.

That's awful! Is Tim taking you to the doctor? Has this happened before?

No doctor yet. I'm waiting for it to be a reasonable time in Chicago, and then I'll call my mother. I think I used to get this a lot when I was a kid -- it's probably just a muscle spasm.

Wouldn't your mother already be up, scrubbing the walls or something?

Heh. I try to wait til after 7am central time, but yeah, I just called.

Oooh... if you're a jaw clencher, you may now have TMJ. Especially if you can't open your mouth more than normal.

I think I've had TMJ before, when I was a kid. It's just weird that it started in the middle of the day, and not after I'd been sleeping (when I tend to clench and/or grind my teeth).

Sometimes I don't notice when I'm clenching during the day. Until I try to eat something, that is.
