just an update
Mar. 25th, 2010 09:13 amSpring is trying to spring here on the seacoast. Last week was beautiful, today is blue skies, but then snow is threatening tonight. Even so, the signs point toward reasonable weather after that, and I'm happy about it. I have to force myself to keep spending some time outside - sometimes I just forget to do it.
Life at work moves along - the hardest part of the year is over, so I mostly coast from now until mid-August. I'll have a little more to do this summer working with orientation, and our admin person is retiring, and we might be moving buildings, so at least there could be a little excitement to look forward to. I don't think I'm meant to stay in the same job for more than a few years. I get too bored. If I didn't think it was necessary to have a consistent salary and if I had more internal motivation, I would freelance consult jumping from place to place to fix things. That's much more interesting than a day to day job. I'm thinking of signing myself up to do grant reviews, or look into being part of an accreditation team that goes to colleges - with 10 years of higher ed experience now, I can almost convince people that I know things.
Coming up is a Scrabble tourney and a conference, which will keep April more entertaining. Someone from conferences here at UNH contacted me about whether I'd like to host a tourney here this summer, so I'm waiting to hear back from them - June is still pretty wide open, so I could hypothetically add some crazy to my life by planning something. We'll see. I should check in with them.
Other than that, it's mostly reality tv, looking forward to farmer's market reopening, and lots of busy weekends (Bar Harbor vacation; Montreal Simon & Garfunkel concert; wedding on Long Island). But, thanks to bad taxes, probably not Spain, even though we were hoping for it this summer. My passport should be processing as we speak. At least I'll get to use it to go to Montreal. I also just noticed that Lilith Fair is back this summer, so maybe I'll look into that, as well. Come on, nice weather...
