Jan. 9th, 2010 08:00 pmTim's going to CA for a week. I get to cook all the meat I want. Our new cookbooks are ad hoc at home (Thomas Keller) and America's Test Kitchen. I plan to make braised short ribs and lentil/sweet potato soup (with bacon) from the former, and the tamale pie from the latter. That should provide enough leftovers for lunches to get me through the week. Yummmm. ad hoc has been a good read so far, and I've just started paging through it. It's a huge, lush book with beautiful pictures and both technique and recipes. tim made the brownies last night and they're amazing.
Tonight I made a Mark Bittman curried rice and chickpea dish with tomatoes, coconut milk, peas and spinach. I ate it with leftover indian food from earlier this week. So good.
