We went to the Portsmouth Arts & Crafts fair today, to scope it out in case I want to apply to sell there next year. The traffic was very heavy, but I hated the setup. It wound through hallways in a high school, with one path that you basically had to follow. It caused pileups, made it hard to go back and look at things without fighting traffic, and generally felt too claustrophobic to me. A few of the vendors were decent - maybe 15 of the 100ish, but I was too overwhelmed and many of them had very poor display strategies, so I didn't linger long. The coolest thing were banks made out of old post office boxes, complete with the cool combo locks, ornate metalwork on the doors, and numbers painted on the glass. I tried to find them online, but all the ones I've found via google look less cool than the ones at the fair. There were no yarn vendors, so I guess it's a possibility for next year.

The house is coming along. Our cleaner came on Monday, which made the house look vaguely reasonable, and made me a little more motivated to get things in order. We have baskets for the bathroom now instead of tupperwares, so that's much more attractive. Our dining room chairs have finally arrived, so we just have to stain them and then assemble them. The artwork is slowly but surely being hung. My dye studio is almost ready for actual use, and a floating shelf is hung in the bedroom, with my necklaces hanging from it.

The exercise routine continues. About twice a week, we make it to the gym. Yesterday I managed 2 miles on the elliptical in about 1:15 less than it took me the first time I went a month ago, so that felt good. I rewarded myself for a month of exercising with new socks and workout pants. I hope it continues to stick.

With the weather cooling down and winter share veggies, we're doing lots of squash, swiss chard, beets, potatoes, with bulgur, rice, other whole grains.... I bought a new whole grain cookbook, and hope it inspires me to cook more with quinoa, millet, etc. I love that grains make my brain think I'm eating the usual carbs, when these are actually much healthier.
