I haven't lived in Chicago since 1994 (minus a brief stint there post-grad school), but I still consider it home.  I don't consider my parents' house my house anymore -- my house in MA is definitely my house/home, but I don't consider Waltham my home at all.  I'm sure there's something in there about signifiers and signs that's interesting to people who study such things.

In Chicago this time around, there will be actual working and cleaning, or there will be not being able to go to Dayton for Scrabble for a week, and that would make me sad.  There will be gnashing of teeth at the amount of working and cleaning, but in some ways, it's good.  It will be less desk and office time, and more sweating.  I think I need that right now.  There will also be Scrabble club with new people and new styles to learn from and so forth.  I've printed off obscene numbers of word lists to browse through in my spare time, too.

Oh, and there will be lots of good eating, including an anniversary dinner where we got engaged, and the tasty fries at this place.  And there might be a Cubs game - I haven't been to Wrigley since I was a teenager.
