(a short tour in recent food)

Tim's brother and our friend Nadine both gave us cheese for xmas.  Sean sent four goat cheeses, and Nadine sent a sampler of french cheese - goat, sheep, and two cow-based (comte and camembert).  So, Thursday night, we dined on cheese.  We took it all out nice and early so it would come to room temp, and served it with bread, grapes, pears, apple and papaya.  It was all quite decadent, although my hunger sensors never figured out when to turn off, I think because it all seemed appetizer-ish, and my brain was apparently waiting for a main course.  Finished the night with a chocolate truffle from my sis-in-law.  All of this before going to Scrabble and winning all four of my games.

Yesterday, Jesse, his friend, Cecilia, Tim and I had some tasty Indian food, bookended by good Scrabble.  I think [profile] wisemonkey won every game she played, and Jesse and I thus won the ones when she was our partner (we were playing doubles).  I have little memory of the last game, as it was after my bedtime and my brain was done.  The Indian food, however, was super tasty.  I had chicken coconut korma, which I'd never had before, and peshwari nan, which is my favorite nan, all stuffed with coconut and fruit.

Today, I had the very classy sliders on pilsbury buttermilk biscuits for lunch.  We're currently prepping two dinners -- tonight, we'll have enchiladas stuffed with sweet potato, potato, black beans, and caramelized onions.  Tomorrow, we'll have baked broccoli and cheese risotto cakes.  I'm also planning to take the crepe maker for its maiden voyage tomorrow morning, and probably do up some tea breads for breakfast snacking.

Rainy weekends are meant for quality kitchen time.
