sleepy

Working hard for two days and going on a 6 mile bike ride should not make me as tired as I am, but apparently, it has.

Had a great dinner last night - frittata with caramelized onion, spinach, broccoli and potatoes, plus a salad. And some Kool-Aid. And one chocolate covered cherry from Trader Joe's. I don't know what possessed me to buy a Sara Lee pound cake, but I am rationing it judiciously while it taunts me from the freezer. And Ben and Jerry's strawberry ice cream was disappointing.

I watched all of AFI's 100 songs from 100 years of movies (or whatever it ws called) last night. I wasn't expecting it to last 3 hours, but by the time it reached the 30s, I was pretty committed to staying up through the end (which was "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"). I predicted a few of the songs ("Mrs Robinson" and "Singin' in the Rain" and "Somewhere" and a few others). Some artists were highlighted a lot more than others (Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland), but that was to be expected. Only a couple of animated songs, and some songs that didn't even originate with the movies with which they were associated, which frustrated me.

That was a lot of space to devote to television. But I did watch it for three hours. (The whole list is here if you'd like to check it out for yourself).

I have a meeting over lunch today. I dislike lunch meetings. But it's not like I've actually used my lunch break to stop working yet this week, so why start now? At least I've been getting out of here around 4.
At work, I'm second-in-charge of getting all the med school candidates' application information together. The in-charge person is home in a cast, on bed rest, so work has suddenly gotten more stressful. I'm still finding a little time to knit and spin, but I'm just a little overworked, so I don't get around to writing about it. Until today, when it's rainy out, and I'm more than a little unmotivated.

I'm crocheting an edge on Charlotte. It's the most excruciating part of this process, because my crochet skills are practically non-existent, and also not very consistent, so I have to rip back simple chains more than I'd like. I'm 1/4 of the way through the final row that I plan to do, and also mostly out of yarn.

I restarted the Ritratto shawl. It's going better now that I'm anticipating the trouble that the multi-strand yarn will give me. I've also got 6" on the Sigma tank.

I finished a number of skeins of spun yarn this weekend, and will put the pics up soon. The wheel is starting to make more sense, and I'm getting better at intuitively fixing my tension, although my singles are still woefully overspun.

A yarn swift will be arriving at my house from Sweden some time soon. Woo!
