I will say something more coherent later.
I like that I have things to do on Mondays that make their being Mondays more palatable. Had a nice - although short - lunch with Nicky on the balcony of Biology, sat through an hour of meeting, worked away the afternoon, went home, went on a 5 mile bike ride (while Tim ran), showered, had Chinese food leftovers (mmm), went to Scrabble, came back, edited Tim's paper, passed out. The hours fly by when everything is as busy as that.

I played four games of Scrabble, won two, lost two. It was all about the tile synergy -- in two games, I had none. In my fourth, I had enough at the beginning to get me a lead that I managed to keep throughout. Bingoes on RELENTEr (which is not good, but didn't get challenged -- I don't know why I didn't just go with RELENTEd), INSpIRE, and OFFICIAl. Yes, they required blanks, but two were also 8 letter plays, which makes me happy. I also had AMIGOES* on my rack, but didn't play it 'cause I didn't think it was good (which it isn't, so good thing -- IMAGOES is, however. Oh well). I also had DEIIRST on my rack, and had I seen DITSIER, I could've bingoed* again. I found TIDIERS and DIRTIES, but neither of those played. (Note: BINGOES* is not acceptable, but BIOGENS is; it is defined as bioplasm, which is "a name suggested by Dr. Beale for the germinal matter supposed to be essential to the functions of all living beings; the material through which every form of life manifests itself; unaltered protoplasm"). Three more weeks of practice before the tourney. There should be four divisions, which means I will be in the upper middle of the third, rather than the bottom of the second.

It was 84 degrees in my house yesterday, but I want to have low heat and electrical bills just for one month of the year, so I refused to turn on the a/c. The basement was quite a lovely temp, though. I'm going to drag the futon back downstairs today so that I can hang out there more often. It'll also make it easier to drag the thing outside for nights that I want to sleep on the screened porch.

I have a lovely turkey, apple, cheese sandwich for lunch again today. Apparently one piece of toast with coffee wasn't enough breakfast to keep me from being starving right about now.

Also: found a place to stay in NYC (City Island, actually). Phew.
