Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] myowngrrl!

Last day of work before conference, and I'm trying to finish up med school applicant paperwork. Admissions is feeding me lunch yet again. It's a good motivation to talk to incoming students when they feed me. Maybe they'll even get my name right today. I have emailed them a couple of times, changed it on lists that they have, changed it on my nametag, and in the 1 2/3 years that I've been here, they've still never gotten it right. I try hard not to fall into Admissions person persona when I'm at these open houses, and rather give students an honest perspective on the good and the bad of the school. Really, I don't know enough yet to be able to tell them that much, anyway, especially about being a science major, but it's still sometimes hard to remember that it's not my job to convince them to come here. Don't tell Admissions, though - I don't want them to take away my free lunches.

Choir. I've been moved down/over to sing Alto 2 on Palestrina's Exsultate Deo. I know the Soprano part cold, but the altos are struggling, so I get moved. It's such a pretty Soprano part, too. Sad. Part (True Vine) is coming along - I can mostly stay on the D for all the pages that I need to. Other music: Mozart Missa Brevis, Dostoino Yest, Stravinsky and Villa Lobos Ave Maria, (Palestrina?) O Bone Jesu, Mozart Ave Verum Corpus, Handel Coronation Anthem (2, I think, 'The King Shall Rejoice). It's all very fun, and nice after singing all of the showtunes stuff to get back to what feels more like real choral music.

Knitting is all I want to do right now. I can't find one of my size 1 bamboo double point needles, though, so my sock sits sad and lonely in my bag when I wanted to work on it today. I suppose I'll search the Internet for Missa Brevis instead.
