Mar. 27th, 2004 10:16 pmKnitting: finished Coronet hat; worked on sweater; was commissioned to do a shrug (which I will adapt from Knitty's shimmer pattern) and some legwarmers (for which I bought some fantastic merino Cherry Hill Farms; finally bought sz 8 dpns in the correct length; decided to do an afghan a la Absolutely Fabulous Colinette kit with all of my purple scrap yarn; drank coffee and ate scone and oohed at the see through, yarn-filled stools at Knit NYC; browsed through Downtown Yarns; fondled silk yarn at the street market.
Eating: tapas at Perbacco; hot cocoa at UTDT; bagels and mocha at Bagel Zone (around the corner from where I stayed); plantain/chicken burrito at Benny's; pot de frites and crepes at Rue de Crepes; sushi (including sweet potato tempura rolls and fantasy roll w/tuna, kiwi, caviar, yellowtail, cucumber) at friends 2; pastries from Something Sweet and Vineiro's; sushi and cute bento box of desserts at Ruby Foo's; Pad Thai and thai iced tea and satay at Thai Angel; lychee agar agar tea at Saint Alps; bubble tea at Pearl; frites at Pomme Pomme and Pomme Frites.
Sightseeing: Wicked!; American Folk Art Museum; NY Public Library (Gutenberg Bible and bookmaking exhibits); NYC Scrabble Club; Greenwich Village street fair; various shops along the walking routes; Bump (great little play - go and see it); Washington Sq Park; Union Station Greenmarket.
Shopping: tongs/spoon/chopsticks at MoMA Design Store; mini impressionist paintings magnets; yarn; $60 worth of CDs (Kasey Chambers, Lizzie West, Cowboy Mouth, barenakedladies (the new one), Antigone Rising, Carla Werner, Catie Curtis, Guided By Voices, Grant Lee Phillips, Chanticleer, Angie Aparo, maybe a couple of others); $2 necklace; The Subtle Knife; postcards.
Travelling: V, B, F, m14, lots and lots of walking.
Feeling:: glad to be in a city; comfortable and loved and understood; always looking around as if I'll know people; being surprised when I do; enjoying the noise; sore from the futon; fulfilled by good conversations; pensive.
