Mar. 22nd, 2004

I spent most of the past three days whimpering and taking drugs, punctuated by some yardwork (done foolishly, when meds were in full swing), and a choir concert. The concert was short and sweet -- selections from Carmen, Pirates of Penzance, Fiddler on the Roof and Into the Woods. We had some fabulous soloists, and I didn't faint. If only our choir could figure out how to sit and stand (and, you know, sing showtunes without having to rehearse them endlessly), it would've been one of our best concerts. I'm dreading the May concert a bit - I'm really excited about the music, but I don't have enough faith in our group to think we'll pull it off in 9 rehearsals. I'm also not looking forward to sustaining a D for 2 1/2 pages of music. Mm.

NYC tomorrow! I think this time around I will allow myself to venture into used CD stores. I have a list of CDs I wouldn't mind getting my hands on: )

I will go to Ruby Foos with a friend from grad school and to see Wicked on Wednesday (missing Sam Shaber and Rachael Sage at the Living Room. Boo), and Scrabble Club on Thursday, and Bump (Rochelle's cousin's show) on Friday, and Dim Sum on Saturday, and fit lots of knitting and people watching and picture taking around said events. And maybe another show, although I'm getting kinda broke.
I am emailing all of the Biology and Biochemistry majors. Outlook estimates that it'll take 45 minutes to send the 1,070 messages. I'm trying not to overtax my computer and cause it to crash during those 45 minutes. La la la. This almost gives me enough of an excuse to do some knitting in my office, but not quite. Of the first 200, only 5 have bounced back to me. That's a pretty decent ratio, as my students and their over-full emailboxes go.
