I've been so busy enjoying myself in real life that I've barely been online to update. Let's see...

Friday: going away party for a co-worker, then a few hours of work and a few hours at friends' house to play euchre. Home, then off to a latke dinner with Rebecca and Robert (my carpoolers).
Saturday: Tim's birthday, made waffles, then out to Baltimore for the World Horse Expo with Nicky; Tim bought a weight bench while I horse-gazed. Out to Tapas Teatro for dinner with Nicky and Paul. We ate and ate. Unlike other tapas places, they are of the philosophy that all food should arrive at once. We had to keep pace with the plates so that we'd maintain enough room on the table for everything that arrived. Very good tapas, but I think I still like Jaleo best. No bacon and dates at Tapas Teatro. Made me sad. Watched half of a movie, dozing on and off. Made it home through snow and what weatherpeople seem to call a "wintry mix," which is a euphemism for nasty, wet, sometimes-frozen precipitation.
Sunday: Barely made it out of bed, threw on some clothes and a hat, and tromped out into the nasty weather to go to Farmer's. Cassie tried to snatch cheese out of the cheese guy's sample tray. Spent much of the afternoon setting up the weight bench, and then did a quick workout - 20 minutes ellipse, plus arms. I can bench press the bar. I may be able to add weights to the bar, but I prefer to start at the very beginning on this one. I've never bench pressed anything before. Tim made me a fabulous steak with an onion/wine/something deglazed sauce, plus a baked sweet potato, and then we went out to Persimmon in Bethesda for dessert. The service is so friendly there! Tim had a blood orange cheesecake with candied kumquats with a local dessert wine, and I had a coconut bread pudding with passionfruit ice cream and coffee. It was all quite lovely. I was impressed that we managed to work out, eat dinner, shower, and then get dressed and leave the house. Came home, finished reading Kitchen Confidential and crashed.
Monday: Thank goodness it was a day off of work. My arms ached when I woke up. We went to Starbucks, as is Monday morning ritual, and I enjoyed my white chocolate mocha, which surprised me since they're usually too sweet for me. We did some price comparison shopping at Costco and Shoppers Food Warehouse, and decided that Costco is probably a decent investment, even for just the two of us. We likely won't buy any five pound bags of celery, but for all the staple, non-perishables, they have pretty good deals. We have plenty of storage space, so we'll try that for a year and see if it's worth the membership fee. Worked out, did some knitting, and Tim made a vegetarian version of Albondigas soup for dinner, which was good and saffrony. Won all four of my Scrabble games, and feel vaguely ready for the tourney this weekend.

And now I'm back at work, eating peanut butter and jelly on fresh bread, enjoying my Sarah McLachlan Afterglow CD, particularly fitting after such a satisfying weekend.
big long quiz here )
I agree with some of this, although I do think I've grown up a little more than it may suggest :) and I definitely prefer autumn to summer.
Nifty web link of the day: Musicplasma, a visual map of musicians in common. Granted, it's pretty incomplete (and didn't introduce me to any new artists yet), but it's pretty :)
