My work computer is accessing the internet, as in the computer network connection box thingie says i'm receiving and sending data, but, nothing comes up in web browsers, nor IM, nor my email, and I can't renew the IP address away from a 169.xx... one, and it's the middle of advising, when I NEED my computer so that I can access my students' records, so I have to use a laptop, which sits on my desk in front of my monitor, taking up way too much space. GRR.
Now that I have vented, I'm more at peace than the above comment sounds. I just thought I'd document the reason that I've been away from my journal and the Internet in general more than usual. Now that I'm on the four day break, I'm reasonably relaxed, although my kidneys still ache a bit, and my voice is really scratchy, which doesn't bode well for the choir concert upcoming.
Tonight, I came home from work a little early, and have so far made Chex Mix and orange-scented cranberry sauce (from the Washington Post's food section this Sunday). I've started some cranberry coconut cookies (I'm a big fan of cranberries), and will soon make some tacos for dinner so that they'll be done before Survivor tonight :) I think that'll be all of my cooking for the evening, but it has helped lower my stress level to hang out in the kitchen for a couple of hours in my sweats and fleecey socks.
In knitting news, I've finished my shawl, bag, and most of the hat that I'm currently working on, so I've almost run out of projects on needles. I have to figure out what other holiday knitting needs to be done, and I need a pair of mittens for myself. Maybe I'll get brave and do 'em on double points.
