is it hot in here or is it just me?
Apr. 8th, 2003 10:13 amMy office is way too warm today. Coming back from vacation in the central time zone, to daylight savings in the eastern time zones means I've lost two hours and any sense of a sleep schedule, and it's rainy and dreary, and too warm... I just want to curl up on my couch and nap all morning.
Here's my random weird work related thought for the day: I miss using my Franklin Planner. I miss having lots of appointments in different places with different people. I miss walking around campus (at least I got a little exercise then!) and talking to random people, and knowing lots of people... someday I'll be back on a smaller campus again. I've decided that if I stay in higher ed, I'd like to run the Experimental College-type program... the thing that organizing not-for-credit, continuing ed sorts of classes, but on a four year campus, not a community college. I think some of my best 'classes' were taught through that sort of program, and it would mean lots of administrative organizing, and interacting with the sorts of people that I like. Now I just have to find that job...
I'm all dreamy and ambitious and reflective after conferences, and I need to get back to my normal job so that I can start advising next week. Once I get through advising for course registration, though, make sure to pester me about getting going on my other professional goals. I think I may take the plunge and apply for the doctoral program at College Park, and maybe take a class a semester or something, just to keep my brain functional. It is one of the better programs in the country, so I might as well take advantage of it. And I could study with Susan Komives, which would be kinda cool since I've read her and all.
