the weather was near-perfect -- much warmer than expected. Urinetown was a fun musical. Watching Kim's friend, Anthony, sing in a cabaret show was pretty cool. Japonais is a cool restaurant, although likely over-hyped. I think I would like it better if it wasn't getting so much press :) The gyu maki, however, was amazing. I did a lot of restringing of necklaces for various customers, and worked at the store for a number of hours to help out. We took James to the zoo for Zoolights, and he was entranced by the life-size snowman and reindeer (aka people in funny costumes). Geoff wrapped Kim's present (Ren and Stimpy DVDs) by ziploc'ing them, and then submerging them in a large pot of water and freezing them, and then adding a couple of layers of duck tape and paper. Good thing she has a good knife, and it had partly thawed. My grandparents are aging, and it makes me sad. My strange great-uncle took us to Panda Express for lunch. He has never taken us out anywhere before. I knitted him a hat for Xmas. I bought three lottery tickets. Our car died because we left the parking lights on after picking up our dry cleaning. I slept through Midnight Mass, but woke up at 4am to help my mother wrap gifts. There's a Japanese candy store that just opened up near my house. Also a Best Buy. Very odd to have that in the neighborhood. It's attached to a home for people with memory loss, or something like that. Seems questionable to put that by a busy street. My old barn, Coach Horse, is now the Noble Horse Theater. I didn't visit this trip around. I'm sad about the change. No little girls can learn how to jump in the old warehouse any more. I was, as usual, curious about what old friends were up to, but didn't make too many efforts to contact them. Of my horse friends, I know that Cat works at Chicago's NPR, and Khara is still around the neighborhood, and Tiffany is in New York. According to google, Khara is associated with the International Sporthorse/Oldenburg Registry. Go figure. My mind is wandering. I should stop now.
