two week update

i still can't spend more than about an hour sitting before it's just too uncomfortable. my doctor says i'm healing fine, but it'll take awhile for all of the skin to regenerate itself, so i still have an open wound to tend and try to keep dry and not infected. i still can't move around much, and can feel myself gaining weight, and there's nothing that i can do about.

it's been too hot to go to work this week. there's very little ventilation and no a/c at the office, and so i'm working from home, semi-successfully. i'm also watching burn notice, which is delightful.

other things that i've been up to in the past two weeks? not a whole lot, sadly. got addicted to chex mix, watched a lot of No Reservations, did some Scrabble studying, bought too much online, and also bought some new clothes that are more comfortable for my healing than most of my old clothes. tried to drink beer yesterday and failed miserably - my body isn't ready for alcohol yet, i guess.

tim leaves for a work thing in park city, utah, on sunday, and my parents roll in to keep an eye on the patient. it'll be good to have them around. we've had a number of guests to keep me company, too, and they don't seem to mind that i'm not very mobile. it would be very lonely without them.

Sounds like a long slow summer. I'm sure the weight will fall off as easily as it came once you return to a normal level of activity.

Dan wants me to give Burn Notice a try, but I'm going through all of Buffy right now and it's all I seem to want to watch.

there are some parallels between buffy and burn notice - pretty people, sharp dialogue, just enough reality mixed in to make it seem like it could be real, even though you know that it isn't.

eat some of those scooby doo cinnamon grahams. they are so good and they are shaped like bones. that's my favorite part. i didn't see them at johnny's foodmaster on tuesday. very upsetting.
rod cannot miss world cup on sunday, but maybe we could come to see you and watch and play games and eat if it will not be too crowded with parents and all...
