yay maine yay marriage

Today Maine became the 5th state in the country to establish marriage equality for gay and lesbian couples. We are the very first state to pass a marriage bill through the Legislature and have the Governor sign it into law.

I know many of you know this already - but I wanted to record it in my journal for posterity :)

It is awesome, but given the political climate in Maine, I can't let myself celebrate it until after the people's veto has either been eliminated or defeated.
