If anyone has been to Las Vegas recently and has suggestions on things to see, let me know - I'll be there for a conferencey work thing in a couple of weeks.

It's a busy week here - lots of planning for the start of the semester, lots of trying to catch up with students about their academic performance last semester. Still feeling lukewarm about work, but so it goes. At least I'm busy right now. Although much of my busyness is waiting for people to email me back, which is unexciting.

Cassie watched American Idol with me last night. She rarely sits and looks at the tv, so it was pretty cute. I think she got upset at some of the bad auditions, because at one point she turned her back on it and came and sat under my feet, the way she does when there are thunderstorms.

hehe - i'm excited to see the bellagio, too -- it wasn't there the last time i was in vegas. i actually stayed in the luxor back then, and it was pretty cool for 1995, but i don't think it would impress me today :)

Yeah, it has taken ALOT of wear and tear since then. In the room we stayed in, the walls were all chewed up and the tiles in the bathroom were cracked. The place was just wrecked. The little sideways elevators were all herky-jerky and everything was just a little off. It had the feel of a place that was awesome once, but had not been maintained at all, which gave it an air of sadness.

Bellagio was AWESOME, though. I really loved it there. The casino was nice, the museum was great, the art around the place was fantastic and the fountains outside were beautiful. I think you will like it if you get to go there. :)
