I'm getting irritated with all the postings about being sick, so here's something happy and listy --
1. Lake Artemisia for walking around
2. JoAnn Fabrics across the street for plenty of cheap yarn
3. Takoma Park and College Park Farmer's Markets
4. Close to so many Indian restaurants!
5. Dog park for Cassie and Jazz
6. Big yard, also for dog happiness, and soon a fruit and veggie garden
7. Ikea will be practically within walking distance as of this summer
8. Easy Metro access at College Park and Greenbelt
9. Bubble tea at Ten Ren
10. Great snowplowing, thanks to Berwyn Heights' snow plow (we were plowed far earlier than College Park
I guess living in the suburbs isn't all bad.

We've been meaning to check out the takoma park farmer's market. We head down there for Blues jams anyway. :)
Have you tried Bombay Bistro? There is one in Fairfax and one in Rockville. :)
We get bubble tea at the Rockville Tenren. :)

Date: 2003-03-10 09:38 am (UTC)I have tried a lot of Indian food in Rockville, so I'm not sure if I've been to that particular one. Is it on the 2nd floor of a strip mall, 'cause that's one of my favorites.
They put so many bubbles in the bubble tea! Far more than they do at the Ten Ren in NYC that I've visited.

Date: 2003-03-10 10:01 am (UTC)No...Bombay Bistro is on Montgomery...a block or 2 from teh courthouse. Its near Rockville Pike.
The Tenren in Manhattan isn't as good as the one in Flushing Queens...but the Queens location doesn't have seating so we often go to Sago instead.
In manhattan I usually go to Tea & Tea (formerly Saint's Alp.)

Seven Seas and Joe's Noodle shop (house?) (Chinese)
Benjarong and Tara (Thai)
Taste of Saigon (Viet)
Favorite organaic supermarket (MOM)
Planning on hitting Green Field Churrascarria (Brazilian AYCE meat) sooner or later which is based around me (Queens in NYC.) The one in Queens is good. :)
Your in Nova, right? my faves there are Shamshirry (Persian) and Taste of Saigon in Tysons.
Nizam's (Turkish)
I'm sure I forget a few. :)

Date: 2003-03-10 10:29 am (UTC)I think I've been to Bombay Bistro - it has a little parking lot, and the food has more spices than the usual Indian food, and there's some seats in front of the front window? If it's that one, I like it :)
I love Benjarong. Tara is good for chain Thai food. MoM is great - there's one close to my house, too. I appreciate the free bread samples from the bakery space. Just finished a loaf of Peasant White.
The only Churrascarria I've been to is, strangely enough, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Had a grand time. My vegetarian husband, however, is usually my dinner date, so not much chance of going to one here unless I work pretty hard at it.
My other favorites include
Royal Jade (Chinese) - Greenbelt
Dusit Thai - Wheaton
Nile Cafe (Persian/Mediterranean) - Annapolis
and I admit we eat at Chevy's once in awhile :)

For vegetarian try Vegetable Garden (veggie chinese). There is supposedly another good veggie chinese in rockville...but the name escapes me.
Moms...not crazy about the peasant white. I prefer the orange cranberry. :)
