indigo girl
almost done with the dyeing. the limiting variables for dyeing, for me, are the amount that i can squeeze with my fingers, and then length of time i can stay on my feet. my fingers get crampy when i'm constantly squeezing water through skeins of yarn (i think i rinse each of them 4-5 times, to get the unabsorbed dye and the soap out). i spend maybe 10 minutes per skein standing up, and take lots of sitting down breaks in between, but even so, my back starts to get cranky with me. plus, my fingers have a lovely blue tint that probably won't wear off any time soon.
now, if only the yarns would dry a little more quickly in the cold of today. the part that i like the best is skeining them and watching the colors blend together, and it's going to be awhile in this weather before I can do that.
