fibery announcements

First, there are a bunch of new yarns that Paula has so graciously added to our webstore:
handspun - http://woolarina.com/yarn.html
handpaints - http://woolarina.com/yarn2.html

Second, I'm off to Rhinebeck this weekend, and vaguely toying with the idea of wheel purchases (and at the very least, wheel fondling). Any thoughts on wheels you love, oh fibergeeks on my friendslist?

what I did at MD was spun everything that moved and made my decision based on that. what are the qualities you are really looking for? large bobbins? ashfords are great wheels, but their bobbins are small. castle or saxony? looks? My personal fave is the robin followed by teh majacraft. I did not get to try the schact, but I hear it is similar to the majacraft... I didn't ahve the cash for the m so I went with the louet.. nice sized bobbins, plenty of ease. Some people like the lundrum b'c it folds up. You need to see what features appeal to you AND try everything b'c you might be surprised what feels good under your feet. :) good luck!

yeah - i've spun on the louet and majacraft castle wheels, and i have an ashford traveller... i just like to hear people's ideas :) i wish i had room in my house for a saxony wheel, but the castles just take up so much less space.

I went with the castle louet b'c of space and b'c I actually really like the castle wheels. I would absolutely LOVE to get a robin, but then I also know I would be fine with a majacraft and I could get it for the same price. *shrug. buy what feels right.

I am thinking about getting a bosworth spindle for cotton and other short fibers. do you spindle at all?

very rarely these days. i like that i can spin and watch tv on the wheel, which i can't do with my spindle :)
