(no subject)

Okay, now I have a normal Internet connection upstairs, even though it means having a phone cord running through the hallway. The basement is mostly dry, and the fan is going to try to keep it that way.

I've been almost as productive as I meant to be this weekend, and I still have today to catch up. I need to stop being so afraid of my sewing machine.

I think I'm waiting on about 10 skeins of yarn in the mail right now. I didn't mean to order that many, but silly Joann Fabrics sent me a 40% off promo deal, and then I have a few coming from eBay. It should be a good mail week this week :)

This is a pretty pointless post, isn't it?

the best kind of weekend afternoon

I managed to have a great afternoon despite wind gusts up to 50+ mph. We headed to Farmer's Market in the wind and rain, picked up the necessities (eggs, apple cider), dropped it at home, and went out to Baltimore, with plans to go to the Craft Show and my favorite restaurant in the area. Getting on the freeway, I looked into the woodsy area as I always do, and actually saw a deer, all furry against the snow.

Got to Baltimore, and all the downtown restaurants seemed to be closed, so we headed to Fells Point, which is a cute little shop area. Found a wonderful Egyptian restaurant called the Nile Cafe, and had wonderful tea, sandwiches, and appetizer sampler (hummus, baba ganouj, blended sweet pea and fava bean things that looked like hummus, and other good stuff). By the time we finished our leisurely meal, it was 2:30, and since the craft fair was a $12 admission and ended at 5, we decided it wasn't worth the money to go to the fair, and we went to a friend's house and played 3 hours of cards instead. Then grocery shopping, and a lovely salad with hot grilled chicken a la George Foreman. Now I'm watching the Grammys, on which an artist who performs before an award has been granted the award a bunch of times now (Norah Jones, Dixie Chicks, John Mayer...)
