ode to office supplies

I have finally found a pencil that I love. It's a Pentel Twist-Erase. It's fatter than a regular pencil (but not as fat as the Dr. Grip, which I like almost as well, has a rubber grip, clicks the 0.5 mm lead forward when you push on the top, and has a long eraser that twists out of the end. On top of all of that, it's purple. I'm not allowed to take it out of my office, for fear that it will be lost. Of course, I stick to inexpensive pencils because I do have a tendency to lose them. This one has been around since before the new year, so it's doing pretty well.
As pens go, I love the Cross Morph. Tim has been carrying one around for a couple of years, enough that the rubber on the barrel is starting to wear (time to ask my mother for a new one - we stock them at the jewelry store). I wish that I could keep track of a pen for that long. I stick with plain old Pilot Precise, purple, extra fine. The office orders them by the crate, and I've just gotten to the end of my box (which I got when I first arrived almost two years ago). I'm sure many of the pens are floating around my house, but I know that I've used at least four of them until they ran out of ink. It's easy to spot folders of students with whom I've worked because they're full of purple notes. I've thought about getting purple pencils as well, but the department would probably think I was more crazy than they need to think. I don't even know if there's such a thing as purple lead for mechanical pencils.
I also keep the twelve pack of Sharpie Ultra Fines in my desk drawer, in case I need to write on CDs or other shiny surfaces.

If it's not 1.0mm then I don't enjoy writing with it...

Date: 2004-04-22 11:03 am (UTC)I got them in a pack of 4 (black, blue, green and red). My life would be complete if they came in purple.

Date: 2004-04-22 12:50 pm (UTC)Honestly, though, my current favorites are from the $1 store. They're really high-quality, fine point ballpoints that were 2 in a package. I bought all the packages they had in two dollar stores and haven't seen any since.
